Welcome to A Taste of History Annual Fundraiser!

Shasta Historical Society’s 9th Annual fundraiser event is back!

We are very excited to announce that A Taste of History is back in person for 2022 and at a new historical location…the IOOF hall in downtown Redding, CA. Please join us as we celebrate our community opening back up after experiencing a time that will go down in future history books!

This year there are two ways you can participate, in person and online. That’s right…we have moved to a format that allows you to even participate from your couch or vacation location if you cannot join us in person! And boy do we have some great auction items for you to choose from this year.

In-person you will experience music, a sit-down dinner, libations and who knows what historical characters will appear. You will also get the opportunity to bid on some fantastic live auction prizes. If you can’t make it in person, we have you covered. You can join those of us at the event by bidding on our silent auction items or donating to our Fund-A-Need online. Prepare those fingers for some bidding wars as our silent auction offerings are shaping up to be intriguing and popular. You can also be a part of preserving our collections by donating to our Fund-A-Need which is dedicated to purchasing the necessary special materials we need for storage.

The Society has many exciting things planned for the months ahead, but we need your help to make them happen. Exhibits like our current one “Pollinators”, that explores pollinators and how a local family created a legacy and big industry in Shasta County with them, are exciting, but not free. Preserving our collections so that future generations can continue to utilize and experience things past is also not free. The staffing required to make our collections accessible and interpret them for our community is not free. We need your help today to make sure we can continue our mission and make these things happen.

Mission

To actively preserve, promote, and bring to life the history if Shasta County.

The Shasta Historical Society encourages and inspires the exploration of Shasta County history through exhibits, programs, publications, collections, and research services. As an educational and research institution, the Shasta Historical Society communicates and preserves our shared local history. Visitors become witnesses to history and explore the dynamics of local heritage. At the Shasta Historical Society, we have been striving to make Shasta County a special place to live, work and visit since 1930.

Vision

To build a shared community legacy for the future by preserving our past.
